Have you ever wondered what the Faroe Islands taste like?

With hand luggage to the Faroe Islands? What to pack for such a trip?
What you can 100% count on in the Faroe Islands - apart from the beautiful views - is the changeability of the weather. This will determine the contents of your baggage. What is worth taking with you? What items, apart from suitable clothing, are essential? Today I will share my experience with you.
Be like an onion!
If someone asks me how many rain jackets or waterproof boots I have, I will answer that I stopped counting a long time ago. ;) The dynamics of the weather changes in this region determine everything, including my fashion choices. But if your stay will last +/- 7 days, you don't need that many jackets.
The best solution is to take the example of... an onion. Onions have layers and these layers are crucial when going to the Faroe Islands. So I recommend a good, breathable base layer (thermal underwear, merino wool etc), a thinner and thicker sweatshirt or wool jumper, a wind and rain resistant jacket. Plus trekking trousers that won't get wet in the first downpour and decent shoes with a grip (I recommend ankle boots, but short will do). Also, warm, breathable socks, a hat, scarf, gloves and... sunglasses in case of a sunny day. Oh, don't take an umbrella with you - the first gust of island wind will end its life. ;)
This might come in handy!
There are a few things you should definitely take with you to the Faroe Islands. One of them is a water bottle and/or thermos. Nothing warms you up as you hike the Faroese trails like hot tea. You should certainly also take basic medicines, especially if you use them on a daily basis. If you are going to the archipelago by ferry - seasickness medication can be very handy. On the other hand, there is no point in carrying food - prices in shops are currently comparable to those in Poland. It is better to put an extra powerbank or hygiene products in there. Possibly sweets or some treats you can't do without. ;)
Photos, photos, photos!
For lovers of spectacular views and those who like to watch animals in their natural habitat, hunt for big fish and birds with their camera, I recommend bringing a camera, drone and/or camcorder with spare batteries and memory cards. Although I am sure, that it is not the equipment itself that is important, but the careful eye of the photographer. If you have a reasonably good smartphone camera - it will do just fine too. The Faroe Islands are full of breathtaking views, so an extra memory card and powerbank may prove essential.
Small or big?
If you are only going to the archipelago for a few days, a hand luggage will suffice. You’ll be able to keep most of the necessary clothes on you and pack the rest in a small suitcase or backpack. However, if you’re taking more electronic equipment or would like to do some major shopping and bring home some souvenirs, it’s better to choose checked baggage.
