- Meeting place: marina in Gamlarætt (Streymoy)
Stóra Dímun is a unique place on the Faroese map that fascinates the Farriers themselves. This small basalt pile, located between the islands of Sandoy and Suðuroy, is inhabited by just one family. Staying on their farm is a sense of true isolation in the 21st century.
We will be taken to Stóra Dímun by a RIB-type pontoon and its seasoned helmsman. Along the way we will see the western coast of Sandoy Island, which is characterized by numerous caves and abrasive spires. The cruise to our destination will take us about 1h. We will start our stay on Stóra Dímun with rock climbing. There is an elevation of 150m to overcome. Along the way we will face obstacles in the form of debris, steep and slippery slopes, as well as rock shelves. The reward for facing these adversities is to arrive at the vast plateau where the úr Dímun family farm is located. Refreshments prepared by the hosts and a tour of the farm await. On the way back down we will be accompanied by locals. The return trip by RIB to Gamlarætt will again take about 1h. A trip to Stóra Dímun is a guarantee of an amazing adventure and a powerful experience.
